Kalpinota — Modern Asian-Fusion Dining in the Heart of Brisbane
Shared plates, wok and grill, seafood and cocktails — a lively, stylish restaurant in Brisbane’s CBD, with a curated programme of evening events.
A MODERN ASIAN-FUSION RESTAURANT ON GEORGE STREET
MADE FOR EVENINGS THAT STAY AWHILE
Kalpinota is a contemporary Brisbane restaurant built around shared plates, bold flavours and relaxed evening dining. We bring together wok, grill and fresh, seasonal produce, drawing on flavours from across Asia and pairing them with a considered drinks list and a warm, social atmosphere.
Whether you’re settling in for a long dinner with friends or dropping by for cocktails and a few small plates, Kalpinota is designed for the way people like to eat now — generous, unhurried and made for sharing.
FLAVOURS FROM ACROSS ASIA, MADE TO SHARE
Our kitchen takes its cues from Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and wider South-East Asian cooking, without tying itself to any single tradition. The result is a menu that’s varied and easy to explore: a table of dumplings and bao-style bites one night, wok noodles and grilled skewers the next.
We keep the balance honest — plenty of vegetables and lighter plates alongside the seafood, chicken and beef — so there’s something for every table.
SHARED PLATES TO START
START IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TABLE
Building a meal at Kalpinota usually begins small. Order a few plates for the middle of the table and keep adding as you go:
- Steamed and crispy dumplings
- Bao-style buns with rich, punchy fillings
- Crunchy vegetable bites and fresh herb salads
- Seafood small plates and grilled skewers
It’s a relaxed way to eat, and an easy way to try more of the menu in one sitting.
WOK AND GRILL
The heart of the kitchen is the wok and grill, where we cook to order over high heat:
- Wok noodles and rice dishes
- Grilled chicken and beef
- Charred seasonal vegetables
- Seafood cooked simply, with fresh, bright flavours
SEAFOOD AND VEGETARIAN
We take our seafood seriously and change dishes with what’s fresh, from chilli prawns to a whole grilled market fish. Vegetarian guests are looked after just as carefully, with miso-style vegetables, sesame greens and plenty of plates built around produce rather than added as an afterthought.
COCKTAILS AND DRINKS
Our bar matches the food: Asian-inspired house cocktails alongside the classics, spritz-style drinks, Australian wine and beer, and a genuine list of non-alcoholic options. Think yuzu, ginger, lychee, citrus and green tea — plus coffee and tea to finish.
A LIVELY, WELCOMING ATMOSPHERE
THE ROOM HAS ITS OWN RHYTHM
Kalpinota is modern, urban and social — a place to linger. The room is warm and stylish, the service is relaxed, and the evenings hum. It’s the kind of restaurant you come to for dinner and end up staying at for one more round.
EVENTS AND EVENINGS AT KALPINOTA
Alongside everyday dining, we run a small, varied programme of evening events — tasting dinners, shared-plates nights, cocktail evenings, live music and the occasional casual social night. They’re a lovely way to experience the restaurant a little differently, but they always sit around the food, never over it.
